What are Essential Oils?
At some point in your life you have probably heard of the term Essential oils or maybe even have used them at some point, but maybe wondered, "what exactly are they and why should I care?" Essential Oils are made from plants and herbs and are extracted to create a super concentrated oil! This process extracts the scent and chemical properties of this plant. Since the oils are so concentrated you only need a few drops to receive the benefits of these plants. These oils can be used topically or diffused into the air. Many people are surprised that they are already using essential oils when they look at the ingredients in their personal hygiene products or even the cleaners they use everyday. There are so many ways to use Essential Oils in your every day life.

What to expect from an Aromatherapy Consultation
Before you use essential oils it is important to discuss your specific health needs with someone who has been trained to understand how certain oils could interact positively or negatively with your body. You should also always speak with your primary care provider or doctor before you start using aromatherapy in conjunction with traditional medical care. As a certified aromatherapist when you book a consultation with me we would discuss your medical history and current physical, mental, and spiritual needs so that I can get a clear picture of what oils might benefit you and what oils to stay away from. It is also important that when purchasing Essential Oils the company you buy them from is reputable because the quality does matter. During our consultation, we would discuss your needs and smell a few of the oils. I would then select the best oils for you based on the benefits as well as your smell preferences because if it doesn't smell good to you you probably won't want to use it! Once the blend is created we will have a follow up conversation a week later to discuss if you are noticing any changes and to see if we might need to alter the blend in any way. Included in the cost of the initial consultation is the one week and one month follow up appointment. These appointments generally will last about 15 minutes and can be conducted in person or over the phone. I recommend my clients keep a journal everyday starting from our initial consultation until the one month appointment so that we can see any patterns and see any improvements. It's important to remember that Essential Oils are not cures and that they should be used alongside traditional medicine when treating chronic symptoms. Generally, aromatherapy is used for more mild to moderate chronic symptoms.
